You Don’t Have To Be A Rocket Scientist…

…but my Congressman literally is one, and he beat the IBM computer Watson at Jeopardy.  From Politico:

It looks like it takes a New Jersey congressman to beat the I.B.M. supercomputer, Watson. A New Jersey congressman who is also a nuclear physicist, that is.

On Monday night, Rep. Rush Holt took on Watson in a round of “Jeopardy!” during a technology demonstration in Washington. And he won. The Democratic congressman, a former physics professor who headed the Nuclear and Scientific Division of the Office of Strategic Forces at the U.S. Department of State in the late 1980s, modestly announced the results via his Twitter account:

“I played a full round against @IBMWatson tonight and was proud to hold my own: the final tally was Holt $8,600, Watson $6,200,”Holt wrote.

This was not, however, Holt’s first “Jeopardy!” jaunt. As the Asbury Park Press, a local New Jersey paper, noted, Holt “was a five-time ‘Jeopardy!’ winner more than 30 years ago.”
